Winnebago County Fair Dates 2005: August 16-21

State Fair Dates 2005: August 12-21

State Fair 4-H Exhibit Reports are available at the Extension Office and online at www.extension.uiuc.edu/winnebago

The Extension Office will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 30.

Volunteer Help Needed for State Fair Transport

We are looking for volunteers who would be willing to help transport 4-H projects to and from the Illinois State Fair in August. An exact date will be determined later. Any help loading, unloading and hauling would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!

Very Important Information

Special Note: Project exhibit requirements have changed for this year. Please check the Program Book carefully!

Important Clover Program Book Info: Please read ALL rules and regulations for the Winnebago County 4-H Show. Each class also has it's own rules. It is important to be aware that a class's description may be continued from page to page. Don't forget to turn the page to be sure you find ALL the information pertaining to your project.

Food Decorating Changes!!! This year the cake, cookie, and cupcake decorating will be judged on June 15 at 4 p.m. at the Extension Office. Changes are as follows: · Exhibitors need to bring a frosted cake or artificial cake to judging to be decorated in front of the judge. · Exhibitors will need to bring all their cake decorating supplies for decorating the cake in front of the judge. · After the judging is complete the judge will talk with the 4-Her about the project. Call before June 1 to register.

Sponsors for 4-H Fair: Each year we look for additional award sponsors for the 4-H Fair. The sponsors could be anyone–an individual, a club, an organization, a business, etc. If you know of anyone or have suggestions of sponsors, please let us know. We appreciate your help.

Past Club Banners Wanted!!! This year the 4-H Restaurant would like to display 4-H banners from past years. Please call the extension office and let us know if you have any banners that the restaurant can use

Program Book Coming Soon! The Winnebago County 2004-2005 Program Book will be available soon. There are A LOT of changes this year so please read ALL RULES carefully and CALL THE EXTENSION OFFICE WITH QUESTIONS! The program book is also available on the Winnebago County Extension Website at www.extension.uiuc.edu/winnebago .

Coggins Test for Horses: All Illinois Equine 12 months and older participating in an advertised equine event–a show, rodeo, exhibition, trial ride, or horse fair, that is posted or media promoted-shall be accompanied by a negative test for equine infectious anemia/E.I.A. (Coggins/Elisa) conducted within one year. This includes all horses being sold, traded, or leaded within Illinois. Also remember that any horse taken over a state line must have a valid veterinarian health certificate as well as the above papers.

National Volunteer Week

April 17-April 23 was National Volunteer week. We would like to say a big THANK YOU to all of our volunteers. You are special people whose dedication, knowledge and skills make a difference.
