WINTER WEATHER & EXTENSION ACTIVITIES

One of these days the snow will fly and winter will be here for sure. If you're wondering if the office is open, or if any activities may have been cancelled, try calling the office to check our answering machine. We will leave messages about cancellations on the answering machine, as well as all the local TV stations, and WROK radio. Hopefully you will check before you leave home!

JR. LEADERSHIP IS AN HONOR

JR LEADERSHIP IS AN HONOR

Being a junior leader will give you a chance to develop qualities as a leader an officer and a committee member. Your job is serving the younger members in your 4-H club by helping them have some of the worthwhile and pleasant experiences you have had. When you are helping others you will be improving your own skills.

Help recruit new members

Make new members welcome

Arrange a project oriented meeting

Plan a club picnic, tour, public exhibit

Help recycle manuals in the club

Help find transportation for others to meetings or events

Organize a clean-up committee to clean up a community center, school or church grounds

Be creative–try new things!

CLUB OFFICER DUTIES

CLUB OFFICER DUTIES

Club officers are an important part of the leadership team in the 4-H club. Officers are usually elected. Generally, duties are as follows. Some clubs may add to or alter the responsibilities to better meet their needs.

President: Presides at all meetings. Manages the business of the club meeting. Appoints committees. Helps keep order during the meeting.

Vice President: Takes charge of meetings in the absence of the president. Serves as chair of the program committee. Responsible for program portion of the meeting.

Secretary: Keeps written minutes of all meetings in the Secretary's Record book. Keeps records of attendance of all members.

Treasurer: Takes care of all club funds. Keeps accurate records of club funds in the Treasurer's Book.

Reporter: Writes interesting and accurate reports of club meetings and special club activities and sends them to local news outlets. Helps keep local people informed of 4-H activities.

Recreation Chair: Plans and conducts recreational activities.

A club may elect additional officers such as refreshment chair, historian, sentinel, etc. Usually the same member does not hold the same office in successive years. A variety of experiences will help you grow in leadership and develop new skills.

4-H CLUB INSURANCE

CLUB LEADERS

Insurance for 4-H members to cover 4-H activities and supplement any health insurance the family has can be purchased for $1 per person or $2 per person for members playing 4-H basketball or doing a horse project. This insurance covers the 4-Her for the entire year. We have details at the office – call 986-4357.
