Sustainable Food
There is nothing like a fresh peach or tomato. When one has tasted one of these fresh treats there are no substitutes. Many are starting to realize that locally grown food supports the community. This trend is rapidly growing across the United States.
More and more people are looking for local sustainable food sometimes it is grown organically, sometimes not. The interest seems to be increasing in the fact that it is local thus sustainable. This old buzz word with maybe some new meaning is more than food. It is also about community and bringing people together. We all need food to survive but all do not have the time or resources to raise their own. If we focus on the local available food resources these truly are sustainable. The community supports the local grower and the local grower lives in and supports other community interest. In many areas of the country sustainable food has become a way of life. Locally grown products available at local farmers' markets, groceries or roadside stands are the real attraction.
Everyone who is a consumer needs to educate themselves to the real value of supporting sustainable food. Nutrition benefits include freshness and increase nutritional value. Economic benefits to support the community and finally a true sustainable food source locally. This is the real meaning of community. Living, sharing, supporting the whole community improves all of our lives. So make that connection to a sustainable food source. The taste will stimulate the pallet and bring a twinkle to one's eye.
