What Is FNP?

The University of Illinois Extension Family Nutrition Program (FNP) promotes safe and healthy eating by providing nutrition education programs and materials for food stamp eligible residents of Whiteside and ninety other Illinois counties.

The Family Nutrition Program (FNP) is funded with Food Stamp Administrative funds by the Food & Consumer Service of the U. S. Department of Agriculture. Food Stamp Nutrition Education Programs are available at many locations:

Food Stamp Offices
WIC sites
Head Start Program site
Even Start Programs
Food Pantries
Community Centers
Libraries
Community Food Sites
Housing Authorities
Churches
Schools
After School programs
Senior Citizen Centers
Youth Summer Camps
County Wide Annual Health and Safety Fairs

Whiteside County Family Nutrition Program Staff

Whiteside County FNP staff members are certified in nutrition education, each with 7-11 years of service to the program. They include: Marilee Ashley and Linda Whitmer. Their office is located at 604 W. 18th Street, Rock Falls, IL. Phone – 815/625-9588

Whiteside County Family Nutrition Program Resources

Monthly newsletters and fact sheets containing basic nutrition, food safety, and resource management are created by University of Illinois Extension Staff at Urbana-Champaign. Most of the printed materials handed out can be obtained in English and Spanish to better serve the Latino/a Community in Whiteside County.
