Wonderwise - Vet Detective

Tolani Francisco is a wildlife veterinarian whose mission is to protect the health of animals on tribal lands in the United States. Learn more about her life and work by viewing the video and exploring the CD-ROM. Five activities in this kit include: Meet Tolani, Bison Behavior, Vital Signs, Rumination, and Disease Detective. Meet Tolani allows students to learn more about this vet detective who works with elk and bison. In Bison Behavior, students observe the behaviors of bison. Students learn to take their own vital signs and then compare them to the vital signs of animals large and small in Vital Signs. Rumination focuses on the digestive systems of humans and a cow. Students get to experiment with the process of digesting grass. Finally, in Disease Detective, students study brucellosis and do some comparison analysis.
