This program will help students learn to do exactly what its title says: to learn to better understand people by sharing their experiences. Students will learn what it might be like for some people who, because of growing older, are no longer able to see, hear or get around as well as when they were young.
The project helps young people:
- Identify attitudes about aging and older people
- Dispel myths and stereotypes about older people
- See the physical changes that occur as people grow older
- Understand how living with physical and sensory change affects older people
- Learn to communicate with older adult
- Develop linkages across generations - within families and communities
