Free Tree Planting Guides Available

Thanks to donations by the Illinois Forestry Development Council and The Morton Arboretum, we are able to offer two different guides on the planting and care of trees. There is no charge for these materials, but supplies are limited. Stop by our office to pick them up, or call 309-347-6614 to ask about having a guide mailed to you. Limit one of each guide per household.

Selecting & Planting Trees

"This guide is designed to encourage tree-planting. Whether the project involves one tree, or is an extensive community effort, careful planning will increase the chances of success."

Topics include planting site evaluation, tree selection and purchasing, planting instructions, and post-planting maintenance and protection. The guide features extensive tables and diagrams for detail and clarity.

Under the Canopy: Creating Personal Green Space

Provided by Illinois Forestry Development Council

"Working together, we can maximize the benefits trees provide to you and your community. This guide will assist you in planning your landscape, planting new trees and providing our leafy friends with proper care and maintenance."

This large brochure features full color pictures and scale diagrams to assist in landscape planning. It also contains helpful information regarding zoning ordinances and other planting considerations.
