Injection Site:
There is no ‘safe’ place to inject drugs. Treatment is safe; never doing drugs as championed through prevention efforts is safest. Millions of dollars are being spent on these shooting galleries. No treatment center in Canada has nearly as much money tossed it as they spend on this nonsense. Come on in, fix your drugs under supervision and chill out with a coffee and a doughnut. Ready to give up dope yet?

A sign tries to elicit support for the ‘Prince of Pot’ Marc Emery, who is facing drug charges in the US relating to his marijuana seed business.
Weed Shirt:
‘Weed is the most common denominator'…of school dropouts. Of all the dropouts that you know, how many smoke pot? That is called a clue. Amotivational syndrome associated with marijuana use kills grades.
Too Many Needles:
Every year the needle exchanges in Vancouver hand out over three million needles. Over 18,000 discarded needles per month are picked up off the streets in Vancouver’s ‘skid road’. Over 90% of the addicts are infected with either Hep C or HIV.
Laser Rave:
Designer drugs like ecstasy (MDMA) are a hit at raves because of the combined stimulant and hallucinogenic effects it has. The dancing to laser lights is fun; the resultant brain damage is not.
Rice Wine Label:
This Chinese cooking liquor was widely abused by local alcoholics as it had 38% alcohol (with 2%) sodium. The alcohol content was reduced to less than 10% with the hope of reducing the overdose deaths to this cheap booze.

This recently used needle rests on top of a garbage dumpster. Over 14,000 needles are found discarded each month by workers in Vancouver’s DTES who are paid to pick them up.
China White:
This double fatal overdose was linked to a rash of heroin deaths. A potent form of heroin known as ‘China White’ killed scores of addicts in the ‘90’s. In 1998 there were 365 overdose deaths in B.C. alone, most of whom died in the rooming houses of the DTES of Vancouver.
