4-H Performance Showcase
Are you gifted musically? Do you play a musical instrument? Do you like to tell jokes? Are you a dancer? Do you like to perform with a group of your friends? If you can answer yes to any of these
questions, then the 4-H Performance Showcase may be the opportunity you are looking for.
University of Illinois 4-H Youth Development is seeking entries for the 2008 4-H Performance
Showcase to be held on Sunday, August 10th, at the Illinois State Fair. This annual event is held to
spotlight the talented 4-H members across Illinois who enjoy performing in front of an audience. Entries are being accepted from soloists, musical groups,
instrumentalists, comedians, and performance groups such as comedy skits, singers, or dancers.
Applicants are to submit an audition tape (standard VHS or DVD format) for review by the Showcase Director. Entries must be postmarked by May 15th.
Selected applicants will be invited to perform in this year's show and will participate in rehearsals on
August 9th in preparation for the performance on
August 10th. The Performance Showcase will be held in the IL Building on the IL State Fairgrounds.
For additional information and/or to obtain an entry form, contact the Extension Office.
A Note of Thanks
The Extension Office received a thank-you card from one of the families who received a Christmas Box. Here is what they wrote:
"Thank you for all the wonderful Christmas gifts! The kids loved everything they received. The coats and clothes were beautiful! The toys were awesome. The kids are still having fun with them! I kept my husband's flashlight for myself, but shh, don't tell him. He has about 30 and no matter where I look I can never find one so I told him they had to stay in the house. The vacuum cleaner sucks. Get it? Sucks? It is perfect! Now my floors are clean without me having to get on the floor with a shop vac. Thank you so much! We
appreciated the food also. You are all great and we thank you very much!"
