Jennifer Fishburn is a unit-based horticulture educator with University of Illinois Extension. She is responsible for managing, promoting, supporting and providing horticulture education for the Sangamon-Menard Unit Horticulture program. She is responsible for providing leadership to the volunteers of the Master Gardener program which provides educational programs and service to audiences in this unit.
She earned a bachelor of science in ornamental horticulture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a masters of science in environmental studies from the University of Illinois at Springfield.
Fishburn is a member of the Springfield Civic Garden Club and the Menard County Garden Club. She helped establish the Sangamon/Menard Agriculture Education Partnership.
She developed Garden Basics, a series of five beginning gardening seminars. This program held annually is co-sponsored by Springfield Civic Garden Club.
Jennifer writes a weekly article for Illinois Times, a Springfield area newspaper with a circulation of 30,000 papers and is also available on-line.
In 2007, Fishburn received the Individual Award of Excellence in Extension for unit based staff with less than 10 years of service.
