The Online Tour
It's time to begin your online tour. The online tour willhelp you become more familiar with the many different facets of Extension. Please click the following to begin: http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/state/
Your are at the State Extension site. Did you notice the U of I logo at the top of the page. Look at the icons on the left side of the screen: newsletters, publications, today's events, find an office and etc. Feel free to click on these icons to view the pages. To the right in red notice Urban Programs, and En Espanol. Click on each icon to see the information provided.
As you view the Extension homepage did you notice news alerts, these are fact sheets on various issues. Click to view something that you are interested in.
Scroll down and find News from Extension. These are news releases that have been sent out to daily papers. Click on the title and you can read the article/articles if you wish.
Notice the picture icons under "Learn More About", this is where you find subject matter material. Each of these icons has various programs that clientele can use. Take a few minutes to click on any of the icons that interest you. When finished return to the homepage.
Now let's go backto the top left hand side of the home page and scroll down to Extension Councils. Click on this and review the summary on Councils. Scroll about one third down on this page and click on Local Extension Council, review the summary.
Now scrolldown the page you will find you will find the newsletter "Insights". Click on 2005. Here you will see a message from Dan Sleaford, the chairman of the Extension State Advisory Committee, this committee is similar to the local Extension council only at the state level. If you scroll down this page you will see a picture of Dr. Dennis Campion, Director of Extension and if you scroll down further you will view a group picture. Note, Matt Montgomery, Sangamon-Menard Extension Educator Crop Systems in the group picture. Return to the Extension homepage.
Back on homepage at the left sideclick"Find an Office",and select view county page, selectMenard or Sangamon County. Click andyou areat the Sangamon-Menard homepage.
Notice the navy bar across the top of the Sangamon-Menard homepage. Click on staff to view Sangamon-Menard staff. When finished return to the Sangamon-Menard homepage.
Take a look at the right side of the Sangamon-Menard homepage. Feel free to investigateNews and Updates, Upcoming Events andour new feature Photo Galleries. Enjoy!
I hope you enjoyed the photo gallery. Next scroll down to the Sangamon-Menard Extension Program Areas and click on Community and Economic Development icon. Scroll half way down on the page. Under Additional Resourcesclick on "Extension Council Making a Difference," to view the short PowerPoint. To advanceslides click on the arrow at the bottom of the slide or click on the wording to the left. If you have a dial up line it may take a minute or two for the picture to load. Note: You do NOT need PowerPoint to view this slide show.
