Garden Walk- Thank You

Thank you to everyone who assisted with the Garden Walk on Saturday, June 23 at Coyn and Susan Richardson's. A big thank you to Caroline G. and Diana H., co-chairs of the Garden Walk. They both worked very hard to make this a well organized, successful event.

Thank you to Coyn and Susan Richardson for allowing us to hold the walk on their property. Thanks to Chuck H. and Cheryl B. for working hard to make sure the grounds looked their best. They both were cooperative and patient while we worked to figure out all the plants and their location on the property.

Also thank you to: Jane S., Ask the Master Gardener area; Kathy H., Program chair; Tom H. and Gordon L., parking chair; Bob N., research and labeling chair; Karen G. and Barbara R., co-chairs of ticket sales; Barbara H. and LaVonne N., co-chairs of greeters and tickets at the walk; Susan H., refreshment chair; Jerry B., drawing and labeling map of the property; and Kathy J., table centerpieces.

The weather was perfect until about 1 pm. Then it rained and rained some more. Finally stopping about 4 pm, after several diehard Master Gardeners put supplies away in the pouring down rain.

Attendance for the event was 426 participants and 81 Master Gardener volunteers.

Thank you to our ticket sales locations: Sangamon-Menard Extension office; Ace Hardware stores in Springfield and Chatham; Marine Banks in Springfield and Chatham; Noonans True Value- North Grand and Bruns Lane; True Value on Stevenson Drive; True Value in Rochester; and Homescapes. Thank you to Springfield Fireman's Club for letting us use their parking lot.

Programs were a great addition this year. Thank you to presenters of programs- Darrell M., Kathy J., Jerry B. and Jane M. Programs prior to 1 pm were very well attended: Roses, 51 people; Dividing Perennials, 74 people; Prairie Plant Flower Arranging, 26 people; Establishing a Prairie, 8 people (due to rain, program held in a tent); and Leaf Casting, 26 people (due to rain, held in the back garage).
