Stay Warm & Dry

Cold temperatures and damp conditions can cause serious problems, especially for infants and older adults. Stay dry, and dress warmly in several layers of loose-fitting, tightly woven clothing.

Pack a Safe Lunch

No matter what the reason you pack a lunch, make sure to keep all of the foods safe. Foods that are meant to be refrigerated—such as lunch meats, leftovers, yogurt and many others—need to be kept cold in the carried lunch. That means you will need a cold source in the lunch such as a freezer pack, or you can freeze a carton of fruit juice to serve that purpose.

Lowering Fat in Foods

You can use reduced-fat sour cream, low-fat or non-fat yogurt or cottage cheese instead of regular sour cream in sauces and dips.
