Chris Hilgert

Extension Unit Educator, Horticulture

Chris received a bachelor of science and master of science degrees in horticulture emphasizing turf and landscape management from Oregon State University.

Chris' experience in the horticulture field includes commercial and private landscaping, growing tree fruits and vegetable crops, and conducting field research examining natural and synthetic herbicides and fertilizers used in home landscapes.

Chris serves Rock Island County by offering a variety of horticulture programs to Master Gardeners, commercial businesses, municipalities, community members and groups, and students and teachers through after-school and school enrichment lessons. Chris also coordinates volunteer opportunities for the Rock Island County Master Gardeners.

Chris serves as co-chair of the University of Illinois Extension horticulture team and is a member of the state Master Gardener advisory committee.
