Agency Networking

  • Combined sharing of resources
  • Disbursement of current information regarding nature of services, hours, cost, eligibility, clientele, etc.
  • Ability and openness to share training opportunities
  • Avoidance of duplication of resources and personnel

Early Care and Education
Work Group Leader--Martha Owens

  • Every child deserves quality early care, education, and programs that meet the families' situation and their needs

Diversity/Cultural Special Needs
Work Group Leader--Lisa Aiaene/Kat Griffith

  • Develop a support system to advocate for the special needs children
  • To define and develop a categorical system to address the special needs of children in the area of ADL's physical, cultural, education and psychosocial development
  • To develop a vehicle to coordinate, collaborate and communicate all services available within Rock Island County

Family/Parent Education
Work Group Leader--Naomi Lincoln

  • A minimal standard of basic core knowledge incorporated into prenatal
    1. Lamaze childbirth classes including developmental milestones and follow up in between--where?
    2. prior to preschool screening and kindergarten roundup
  • A Collaboration and sharing between agency--child--parent
  • Neighborhood based-variance in participants between home-based and comfort zones vs. going to an agency
  • Different sources should provide the same information--cumulative impact

Funding
Work Group Leader--Laurie Walker and Kat Griffith

  • Develop a plan to increase funding through local and statewide advocacy/education which will result in funds to afford quality services, quality personnel, and facilities and an indexed subsidized parent co-pay scale that enables families to choose from a full range of early care and education options
  • Commit to interagency collaboration and continuity of care beginning before and continuing after birth e.g.
    1. ISBE follows through with universal pre-school and funding
    2. dollars dedicated to early childhood pars--v.s. general funds
    3. education as to value of early intervention
    4. long-term savings
    5. pool resources
    6. reduce transition and changes
