4-H Shows

4-H Shows
As part of the 2009 Rock Island County Fair, more than 200 4-H club members will enter projects in 31 diverse subjects for judging. All of the club members are judged and receive blue, red or white ribbons or trophies for their projects. Winning categories include grand champion, reserve grand champion, best of show and state fair delegate and state fair alternate. This year's Rock Island County Fair will be held July 20 to July 25 at the Rock Island County Fairgrounds in East Moline.

Agricultural Literacy

Agricultural Literacy
Why teach about agriculture? Agriculture is relevant to the lives of your students. Regardless of whether they live in a city, town, or in the country, farming and the agricultural industry provide their food, clothing and many everyday products. Agriculture fits every subject area. Agricultural concepts can enhance your curriculum in language arts, math, science, social studies, and more. An understanding of Agriculture can prepare your students for a fulfilling career. One of every six working people in the U.S. is employed within the ag industry.
