Dale Baird

Extension Educator, Crop Systems

Dale's Extension programs focus on corn and soybean production and pest management. Pest control emphasis includes weed control, corn and soybean insects and soybean diseases. He works with Extension County Directors and agribusiness suppliers in delivering agronomic recommendations at crop production seminars, summer pest management clinics, commercial variety field days and in-depth crop production workshops.

Dale has been with University of Illinois Extension since 1981 and currently serves as the Crop Systems Educator at the Rockford Extension Center. Previously, he had served as the LaSalle County Agriculture Extension Adviser. Dale has a bachelor of science in agriculture and a masters degree in agronomy from the University of Illinois.

In addition, Dale has been involved with research programs at the U of I DeKalb Research Farm and on farm sites. Dale is a Certified Crop Adviser by the American Registry of Certified Professionals in Agronomy, Crops and Soil. He is also a member of American Society of Agronomy, Illinois Extension Agricultural Association, National Association of County Agricultural Agents and Illinois Forage and Grassland Council.
