Daniel J. Jennings
Extension Educator, Animal Systems
Dan is a native of a grain and swine farm in northwest Ohio and holds a bachelor of science from the Ohio State University in animal science and a masters of science from Michigan State University in swine nutrition. Before coming to Illinois, Dan oversaw 20,000 sows in the Midwest as a Swine Production Consultant for Thorn Apple Valley. Dan has been with Illinois Extension since 1993, conducts field research, and develops Extension programs for the Illinois livestock industry. Jennings specializes in teaching swine nutrition, housing, and management as it relates to lean gain performance and carcass quality. In addition, Dan is actively involved with waste management and odor control through certified teaching programs. Dan has been actively involved in assisting producers in value added ventures by linking livestock producers with retailers and consumers. Dan has also been instrumental in developing fun innovative livestock events for Illinois 4-H and youth groups. Dan resides in rural DeKalb, Illinois, with his wife Johnna and daughters Jaylene and Justene.
