RANDOLPH COUNTY 4-H TO PARTICIPATE IN POPEYE PARADE IN CHESTER - Join fellow Randolph County 4-H members and walk in the parade to promote 4-H! 4-H members are asked to meet behind the Chester High School at 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, September 6, 2008. The parade begins at 11:30 a.m. Please wear a 4-H t-shirt or other 4-H apparel if possible. Parents and family members are welcome to join the group. Please call the Extension Office or email Yvonne Eater, the 4-H Community Worker, before the parade so we know who to expect.

TRIVIA NIGHT - sponsored by the Ruma Roadrunners 4-H Club. Friday, October 24, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at St. Patrick Parish Hall in Ruma. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. $10.00 per person/8 people per table. Bring your own snacks. Soda will be available. No beverages or alcohol can be brought in. A silent auction and 50/50 drawing will also be held. Call 785-2795 to reserve a table. Come join the fun!

Randolph County 4-H was well represented at the 2008 Illinois State Fair in Springfield. 4-H members were chosen to go to the State Fair with their 4-H projects during judging at the 4-H show days earlier this summer. This year brought a return to conference judging at the Illinois State Fair which meant that 4-H members had to travel with their projects to the State Fair and talk with a judge about their projects. SOUTHERN ILLINOIS LEADERSHIP CONVENTION (SILC) - a one-of-a-kind event planned by teens for teens! The 2008 convention is scheduled for October 11-13, 2008 at Touch of Nature Environmental Center in Carbondale. The program includes workshops, community service projects, dances, a trivia night, and time to meet new friends. Early bird registration (at a reduced price) is due by August 29. Registration is required by September 6 or until space if filled. The Randolph County Extension Office is offering some scholarships for 4-H members to attend this convention.
