Elizabeth K. Haynes leads the development, implementation, evaluation, and management of the Illinois Master Naturalist program, which provides science-based educational opportunities that connect people with nature and help them become engaged environmental stewards. By allowing individuals to experience nature, trained Illinois Master Naturalists develop knowledge of and respect for the environment, and practice natural resource stewardship.
Since 2002, Elizabeth has been engaged in the discussion, research and growth of the Master Naturalist Program within the United States. As a founding and 2-term board member of the Alliance of Natural Resource Outreach & Service Programs (ANROSP), she has provided leadership in the development of national presentations, programmatic resources, evaluation tools, mentoring and funding opportunities for Master Naturalist-type programs across the United States.
With a strong passion to educate, engage and empower individuals, organizations, and communities to lead and practice natural resource stewardship, Elizabeth provides the necessary catalytic leadership needed to coordinate the new and growing Master Naturalist program within Illinois.
