Most people think mosquitoes are annoying, but did you know that they
can be deadly too? Mosquitoes play a key role in the transmission
of heartworm to our cats and dogs, which can lead to severe
complications and eventual death. Year-round prevention though
oral tablets or topical products will help your pet avoid the horrors
of heartworm. ---- Dr. Amy Fischer is a Teaching Associate in the Companion

Fleas are the most common external parasite of dog and cats, and warmer
weather brings heightened concern about these jumping pests.
While adult fleas feed on the blood of the host, most fleas are
actually in the environment, in the egg, larval, or pupal stages of the
life cycle. Convenient topical products disrupt the flea life
cycle and have residual action – keeping both our pets and our homes
flea-free. ---- Dr. Amy Fischer is a Teaching Associate in the Companion
