The House of Representatives defeated a version of the Farm Bill
introduced by Ron Kind of Wisconsin last week. It would have eliminated farm subsidies to producers making
more than 250-thousand dollars a year along with direct payments, and relied
more heavily on revenue assurance programs. Senator Dick Durbin, a Democrat from Illinois says he was
disappointed with the House action because some of that bill…the revenue
assurance program… was similar to proposal he and Ohio Democrat Senator Sherrod
Brown have made. Todd Gleason has more on that proposal.
