Piatt County Extension is the University of Illinois educational outreach to local residents. Extension provides practical non-biased research based information offered in a variety of educational forms such as workshops, fact sheets, websites, and individual consultations. Our primary goal is to assist residents in their decision making process for the best possible outcome.

Piatt County Tip of the Week
Storage of Pumpkins & Squash
These crops under proper conditions can be stored until early spring. They prefer cool, not cold, storage temperatures around 50-55° F along with low humidity. Only mature fruit store well. The rind should be hard and there should be no damage from insects or harvest. (Source: Ed Billingsley, County Extension Director, Williamson County)
