Blue Ribbon Go-Getters & Buddies

The Blue Ribbon Go-Getters & Buddies met at the Methodist Church in Pinckneyville on October 19, 2009. We discussed what charity we were going to donate to over the holidays and what we would donate. The remaining Achievement Night Awards were passed out. Nathan Bauersachs talked about taking care of rabbits and Nick Bauersachs talked about the care of pigs. We played Klump after the meeting. Our group will be working a Mardi Gras Booth on October 31 playing Limbo and Name That Tune. There is a County Wide Sewing Workshop on November 11 at the Methodist Church. Our next meeting will be November 16 at 6:00 at the Methodist Church.

Buckeyes

The Buckeyes met on October 28th. They took a tour of Pestka Grocery Store in Tamaroa, it was decorated for Halloween. Handed out enrollment sheets to all members. They then came back to Pinckneyville to eat at Ferrero's. They will elect officers at their next meeting.

Perry County Shamrocks

On October 2nd we put a display at Murphy-Wall Bank. We had a meeting and elected officers. Members attended Achievement Night and the Fall Festival. Their next meeting will be November 6th.

Perry County Panthers

The Perry County Panthers met on October 26th at the home of Max Fox. The club had a weiner roast, made s'mores and had a meeting. They elected officers and committee chairmen. Max Fox did a talk on raising sheep. Their next meeting is November 30th at the home of Caleb Logan.

Itsy Bitsy Spikers

The Itsy Bitsy Spikers met on October 18th. They elected officers, set some goals for the upcoming year and worked on Volleyball skills. They then got to play a game of volleyball. Their next meeting will be on November 15th.

Horse Lover's

The Horse Lover's met on October 28th, at 6:00 pm at the Liberty Church in DuQuoin. They have gained many new members this year. Michelle VanZandt did a demonstration on care of Rabbits. Lindsey Feltmeyer brought in some rabbits and helped with the demonstration. Their next meeting will be in December at the home of Cathy Hutchings. They will learn how to groom a horse.

Federation

With the new year here, I would like to remind members that becoming a Federation Delegate in your club is a huge responsibility. It can also be very rewarding. Federation Delegates please make sure that you can attend most of the meetings. The next Federation Meeting will be on November 19th, and we will be electing officers.

Achievement Night

Achievement Night was held on October 13th at St. Paul United Church of Christ. The evening kicked off with a meal, then we handed out awards. I hope everyone enjoyed the evening, and I want to thank all of the 4-H members who turned in Member Records and Award Applications.

Fall Festival

The Fall Festival was held on October 17th at the Pinckneyville Fairgrounds. We had a good time walking around the Threshermans, painting pumpkins, sack races and the money scramble. The members who came to the Rocket Workshop got to blast off.

Sewing Workshop

A Sewing Workshop will be held at the Methodist Church on November 11th. We will begin at 9:00 am. There will be a $5.00 charge to attend this workshop. Each member will make their own wall hanging. This workshop will end at 2:00. Please call the Extension Office to register.

Entomology Workshop

An Entomology Workshop will be held at the Methodist Church on November 11th. Doug Jones, a U of I Extension Educator will be bringing a bug collection with him. He will teach the proper method of pinning and how to collect insects for your collection. The cost of this workshop is $5.00. This workshop will begin at 10:00 am and end at 1:00 pm. Lunch will be served. Please call the Extension Office to register.

Veterans Day

Veterans Day is November 11th. If you know a veteran, please take time out on this day to thank them.
