Time:
1:00pm Meeting • 2:00pm Tour of Tracy's Garden
Place:
Tracy Heuermann's Garden, 148 W. Detweiller Dr., Peoria
Topic:
Tracy will share what did not go well in her garden this year since we often learn more from problems than from successes. Of course Tracy has mostly success in her beautiful garden. We are fortunate to be able to view the 2009 Heuermann Garden in September.
Note: Have a topic of MG interest or a guest speaker you would like to have at any our meetings?
With fall around the corner it's time to rethink the contents of containers. It's the perfect time to look at replacing or revamping them. Some of the annuals are really starting to look tattered. There are so many great ideas for fall containers it's hard to decide what to choose. And the great thing is, there is no right or wrong way to do it so I can't fail. This is the time to think outside the box. There are great looking shrubs, evergreens and grasses that can be added to containers. I like looking for plants with colorful foliage and interesting texture. Of course I'll be adding pumpkins or gourds to add a little different dimension. And I'll have to leave the dried up twigs in because the Hummingbirds have grown quite fond of using them as perches. Bottom line, it's another opportunity for me to visit one of my favorite places, the nursery. Maybe I'll see you there.
Happy gardening!
