JANUARY MEETING:
Date:
Wednesday, January 21
Time:
1:00pm Awards Luncheon & Meeting
Place:
Extension Office
Topic: Awards Luncheon.
This is our yearly awards meeting. In appreciation for
all our good services this past year, food is being provided, so come hungry...make sure
you have RSVPed with Margie Karl, so there will be enough food.
(Note: Have a topic of MG interest or a guest speaker you would like to have at any our
meetings? Please tell our President, Margie Karl or V. Pres. Norm Meyn.)
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your confidence in my leadership
abilities. I will do my best to not let you down. During the year I will try to guide us
toward the roots (no pun intended) of the Master Gardener program, "helping others
learn to grow". With your suggestions we will explore ways to concentrate more on
teaching and learning opportunities rather than labor opportunities. At our Feb. monthly
meeting we will look closely at our projects and talk about how we will proceed. I
encourage everyone to be involved. If you have comments, ideas or concerns that will
help our group not only grow stronger but also strive to be more, I want to hear them.
Email me at gmk_mmk@yahoo.com or call me at 309-657-5926.
I also want to say "thank you" to the officers and project leaders for 2009. You are
volunteers who give freely of yourselves and your time to organize and coordinate the
Master Gardener projects. Many of you do this while actively serving on other Master
Gardener projects or honoring other outside commitments. Without that leadership we
would not be as efficient or effective as we are. And "thank you" to all the volunteers
who share in the work load by doing whatever is asked of them in order to share our
knowledge with our communities and make our projects a success. I'm blessed to be a
part of such a wonderful group of people.
With all that said, enjoy the winter and all its beauty. I for one will be sitting in my
comfy chair with a hot cup of tea browsing plant catalogues, watching the antics of the
backyard wildlife and yes, dreaming a little of Spring.
- Margie Karl, President
