After a month of snow, ice and cold, it was really nice to have a "shirt sleeve" day. The
warm southerly breezes make one desire to get outside and dig around in the garden.
Unfortunately not yet as the ground is still frozen, but by the end of this month we
should be getting back into the swing of gardening: cleaning out and preparing plant
beds, starting plants for transplanting, etc. We have a number of opportunities to serve
our county's citizens (Luthy, Bel-Wood, Help-Line, ICC, Greenway, etc.), so now is a
good time to be signing on to the projects where you want to participate. Some have
noted that there is a social component to our membership in the MG Program. I agree.
Being Master Gardeners gives us the opportunity to share time with others of like
interests while we help others and learn more about the natural world in which we live.

their phone numbers or addresses (regular or e-mail). Betty Raker, Floyd McMahon,

month at the Farmers Market in Bartonville. Nancy Lemieux is recovering from a

April.
