President's Comments

"Global Warming?" After this spring, I am having serious doubts about either natural or

"man-made" Global Warming. We had a nighttime temperature around 40 during the

last week of May. We have also had a lot of rain this spring. Reports are out that earth's

average temperatures have declined over the last seven or eight years! Regardless, it

seems that we are having a good Gardening Spring. Now that warm temperatures have

finally arrived, we can get on with planting and enjoying our gardening.

Peoria MG Meeting Highlights

Anyone interested in getting any flowers from Nancy Lemieux's yard should contact

Carol Ann Purcell at 686-1516. Angela Zimmerman showed a vest that they made to

study trees at PARC. Lee Hammond talked about the possibility of training for new

volunteers for the Help Line. Margie Karl said that she has had a request for a speaker

from Green View. They want someone to speak on roses and perennials. Green View

will give the speaker a gift card in an unknown amount. If interested, please contact

Margie. Norma Ellington thanked the four interns for helping with the Greenway.

Margie Karl said that she needs volunteers to help with the Farmers Market in

Bartonville. Bel-Wood was getting flowers delivered and would be busy planting. Pat

Middleton said that they are working on identifying and labeling plants at Jubilee Park.

Pat Middleton reported that the design team for ICC has probably met for the last time

and is going into Phase 2. Peoria County's area at ICC will be the annuals and grass beds

and native plants. Barb Loar gave the plant of month report on Garlic Mustard.
