Dunlap Dynamite

The monthly meeting of the Dunlap Dynamite 4-H Club was held May 12 at the Dunlap Fire Station on Route 91. Our old business consisted of our t-shirt designs. We decided on combining Stacey Wagenbach and Amanda Carter's ideas. They are to work together to create a final design. We also discussed a community service project. Helping the firemen, who allow us to hold meetings at the firehouse, was decided. After the meeting was adjouned, our club ws served refreshments. Then some members gave a demonstration on their 4-H projects. Stacy Wagenbach showed our club the crocheting projects she has done in the past and the doily she is currently working on. Allys Pauli demonstrated how to make a lettuce garden in a bowl. Abigail Carter demonstrated how to show a rabbit. The next meeting of the Dunlap Dynamite 4-H Club will be held on June 9, 2008.

Community Service Report: Our 4-H group split into two groups for our community service project. Half of us went to the fire station on Rt. 91 and the other half of us went to the fire station on Rt. 40. We planted flowers, mowed grass, weeded gardens, and other lawn maintenance for the fire stations. We hold our meetings at their facilities, so we helped them make their stations look more attractive.

Edelstein Eager Beavers

The May meeting of the Edelstein Eager Beavers was held on May 19 at Jay and Deanne Knobloch's house at 6:30 p.m. It was our annual Public Presentations night. First, we held a short meeting. We discussed that the 4-H showbook will be available on the internet only, instead of each family getting a printed copy. Also, if you want to sponsor a trophy for the fair, you can pay $25 to the Extension Office. Then we split into three groups for the public presentations. The entries were as follows: Kourtney Stahl and Mikaela Wieland-"Stowaways"; Lexi and Drew Thomas-"We got a Dog"; Derek Rumbold-Karate; Samantha Kieser-Rabbits; Sandy Fritzenmeier-Horse Racing; Brianna Streitmatter-"Chicken Attack"; Kayla Rees-School Shootings; David Herrmann-Turkeys; Clayton Kieser-Pig Ear Notching; Ethan Wieland and Daniel Feucht-"Don't Cross the Line"; JayLyn Knobloch and Larrissa Herrmann-"Actor and Agent"; Philip Braker-How to make Biscuits; JaNae Knobloch-How to make Glue; Garrett Herrmann-Lego Mindstorms; Abby Gallup-Martial Arts; Clint Kupferschmid-A Wedding Story; Mitchell Martin-Picnic Lunch; Jason Braker-How to make Scotcheroos; Grace Wieland-President Taft; Josie Knobloch-"A Continuation of Cinderella"; Marshall Martin-Abraham Lincoln; Alex Gallup-Soccer; Rebecca Spurgeon-Horses; Jesse Feucht-Daniel Boone. The three winners were JayLyn Knobloch and Larissa Herrmann, Mitchell Martin, and Jesse Feucht. Great job to everyone who participated. The meeting was adjourned and refreshments were served. Our next meeting is June 16 and will be our annual tour. Details will come later.
