4-H CAMP REGISTRATION NOW OPEN

4-H Camp Week '08 is set for June 9-13 at Camp White Eagle in Leaf River. Camper registrations are now being accepted.

4-H Camp is a four-day, four-night residential camping experience that is conducted cooperatively by University of Illinois Extension staff in Stephenson, Ogle, and Lee Counties and the professional staff at Camp White Eagle.

Campers will check-in from 6:00-6:30 p.m. on June 9 and check-out from 6:00-6:30 p.m. on June 13. During camp week, they will engage in a variety of activities designed to challenge, educate, and entertain. Two or three free choice periods will be offered daily and will include options such as: swimming, hiking, nature study, rock climbing, arts and crafts, archery, canoeing, field games, water and mud volleyball, crate stacking, teambuilding challenges, camping skills, and GPS scavenger hunts. Evening activities will be provided by the teen 4-H camp counselors from the co-sponsoring counties and include campfires, a dance, and one night of friendly competition.

4-H Camp is open to all youth, ages 8-15 by June 9, 2008. 4-H membership is not required; however all participants will be expected to comply with the same high behavior standards expected of 4-Hers.

4-H Camp fees increase as camp approaches, so interested families are encouraged to sign-up quickly! Participants who register before January 31 will enjoy the lowest fee of $200. Those who register between February 1 and April 15 will pay $210; and those who sign up after April 16 will pay $220. A minimum $75 deposit is required with the registration form. A price break is provided for families sending multiple children. A camper t-shirt is included in the cost. Scholarship rebates are provided for enrolled 4-H club members in some counties.
