Desserts: Making Them Healthful Yet Delicious

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
November 5, 2009

When we try to get the most nutrition out of our calories, can we have our dessert and eat it too? University of Illinois Extension Ogle County will offer a workshop on healthy desserts on Wednesday, December 2nd from 6 – 8 pm in the Ogle County Farm Bureau Building.

Healthy dessert strategies are becoming more important, whether you're worried about eating too many desserts during the holidays or stretching your food dollars to include dessert. Learn how to make healthful, money-saving desserts using fruit, calcium-rich foods, and grains that can fit in your family's meals. While this class comes too late for Thanksgiving, dessert season is just beginning.

The registration fee is $10 which covers the cost of recipe booklets and food samples. Please call 815/732-2191 to register by November 30. If you need a reasonable accommodation to participate, please mention when registering.
