The Forreston Friskies 4-H Club started the year out by a visit to Willow Bend Alpaca Farms just outside of Forreston on Monday, September 14, 2009. It was amazing to see these beautiful animals just in our own backyard. Members got a close up look at the Alpaca and learn what they use them for. Patti showed them the different types of quality of coats that the Alpacas have and need to be for the best quality coats. They got to see the different stages of the hair of the animals spun into soft yarn that makes a very nice sweater. The members also met more out at the farm such as goats, chickens, working dogs and cats. It was a wonderful experience the members had.
