2009 Ogle County 4-H Fair Market Animal and Quality Meats Auction Results

Here are the results of the 2009 Ogle County 4-H Fair market animal and quality meats auction.

Thanks to all the bidders and buyers in rewarding the young people for doing a good job with their projects.

A special thanks to the auctioneers, Lenny Bryson, Joe Wegener, Mark Ebert and Todd Wills and to Lyle, Sheryl and John Hopkins of Public Auction Service for keeping track of everything.

Total proceeds from the auction were $97,249.25. The Champion Chicken Carcass belonging to Brittan DeVries of Forreston, was purchased by Jim Sacia, Illinois State Representative for $150.00. The Reserve Champion Chicken Carcass of Grant Watson, Byron, was purchased by Speed Trucking for $150.00.

Champion Rabbit Carcass belonging to Felicia Coleman, Forreston was purchased by Lowry Lazy Acres for $200.00. Reserve Champion Rabbit Carcass, belonging to Brittan DeVries was purchased by Speed Trucking for $100.00.

The Dairy Supreme Basket also awarded to Felicia Coleman, was purchased by Cliff's Donuts & More for $275.00.

Champion Lamb Carcass belonging to Austin LeClere, Forreston, was purchased by Dr. Keith Ruter for $450.00. The top selling 125 pound lamb of Jill Ebens, Oregon was purchased at $5.00 a pound for a total of $625.00. The average price per pound for lamb was $2.20. A total of 16 head of sheep were sold.

Champion Hog Carcass belonging to Emma Duncan, Polo, was purchased by Jeff Boyer Trucking for $460.00. Reserve Champion Hog Carcass belonging to Levi Duncan, Polo, was also purchased by Jeff Boyer Trucking for $470.00. Riley Hintzsche of Lindenwood had the 280 pound Champion Market Barrow. It was purchased by Meridian Implement at $1.50 a pound for a total of $420.00. The Top selling 250 pound Champion Market Gilt owned by Adam Cox of Chana was purchased by DeKalb Implement at $3.35 a pound, for a total of $837.50. The average price per pound for hogs was $2.14, with 69 head being sold.

Champion Beef Carcass belonging to Michael Ring, Oregon, was purchased for $2,109.75 by the Ogle County Beef Association and Stocking Equipment. Reserve Champion Carcass belonging to Joseph Ring, Oregon was purchased for $1764.00 by Schier Trucking and Public Auction Service. The Champion 1335 pound steer belonging to Anna Ohlwine, Polo, was purchased by Bocker Grain for $2269.50 at the price of $1.70 per pound. Reserve Champion 1350 pound Steer belonging to Zaccery Risley, Esmond, was purchased for $1,282.50 by Meridian Implement at $.95 a pound. The top selling 1310 pound steer belonging to Kyle Hemmersbach, Leaf River, was sold for $2,489.00 at 1.90 a pound. A total of 29 head of cattle were sold with the average price being $1.27 a pound.

The top selling 40 pound goat belonging to Harrison Bishop of Chana went for $1.60 a pound for a total of $64.00 to Lenny Bryson, Auctioneer.
