Starting a new 4-H club is easy. Basically, two things are needed:
Five or more interested youth, ages 8-18 by September 1 of the current 4-H year and/or Five or more interested youth, ages 5-7 by September 1 of the current 4-H year.
One or more adults who are willing to provide leadership for the group.
Adults who are interested in becoming 4-H leaders must complete the Illinois 4-H Volunteer Screening process. This process is in place to protect the youth and adults involved in 4-H programming. Your local Extension staff will guide you through this process.
Orientation is provided for new 4-H leaders. On-going training is provided for all leaders on a regular schedule, and one-on-one consultations are always provided to leaders upon request.
