The Ruby Holmquist Scholarship is awarded each year by the Horsemen's Council of Illinois to honor the memory of late HCI Director, Illinois trails advocate and Past President of Illinois Trail Riders Association, Ruby Holmquist. For a copy of the guidelines and an application form for the scholarship contact the Extension Office. The scholarship is available to any experienced horse student. The deadline to submit the scholarship is December 1, 2009.

This award opportunity is open to high school juniors and seniors, as well as college freshmen. It is sponsored by the Farm Bureau and rewards members who have exhibited outstanding leadership, citizenship, cooperation, and professionalism during the past 4-H program year. While all members can apply, the program is designed to recognize and promote achievement in the agricultural industry. The winners from across the state will be awarded trips to the Illinois Farm Bureau and Affiliates two-day Premier 20 Leadership Conference in Bloomington from April 21-23. Applications are available at the office. Completed applications are due to the Extension office by Friday, November 30th.
