CIRCLE M 4H CLUB KEEPING BUSY!!

Circle M held its meeting on March 10th. Megan did role and the secretary minutes. Old Business discussed included the winner for the most pizzas sold - - the Wilson family. Second place was the Taylor family coming close behind; and third was the Lazansky family. The members that went to the bowling tournament said it was very fun. At the Penny Carnival our activity was called "Do Your Chores." Players had to throw a bean bag through a chicken, pig or a cow with holes cut in them. New Business: The government is thinking about reducing the funding for 4-H. Our club took time during the meeting to write letters to our State Representatives and our State Senators to tell them what we think is the best part of 4-H and why we think 4-H is important for young people. We are trying to schedule a field trip. We voted on Phil's Fresh Eggs in Forreston as our Ag trip and White Pines Roller Rink as something fun to do. Garbage pick up day is Saturday, April 12th. Please meet at the Miller's at 8 am. Trucks would be nice to have for easy pick up of garbage. Rain day is set for April 19th. Demonstrations and Talks- Gretchen Richter did a talk on Blister Beetles and a demo on quick release for horses. Konner Wilson talked about rabbits and what they need to survive. Logan Lazansky talked about his guinea pig, Winnie. Ryan Lazansky talked about his turtle named Tuck. Landon Lazansky talked about his hedgehog, Pokey. BUSY TIME FOR BY-Y-BADGERS

The Byron By-Y-Badgers have been a busy club lately. They held their monthly meeting on February 11th, 2008 at the United Church in Byron. Club member Jim Overmyer gave a talk about restoring his Karmann Ghia car. Jocelyn Sullivan also gave a talk about her pressed flower collection. Along with the general meeting, the club organized a special focus on Safety. The club split up into two groups and met with Safety Instructor Lorrie Adams, and Byron Paramedic Terry Reeverts. Ms. Adams' discussed internet safety, avoiding "tricky people", and keeping your body safe. Mr. Reeverts taught the members first aid, using some everyday items.

Many of the club members recently participated in the county bowling tournament. Over twenty members gathered to bowl at the Town & Country Lanes. Some will soon find out if they advance to the upcoming finals.

The Badgers held a frozen pizza fundraiser, which raised money to fund their own club as well as the Ogle County 4-H Federation. Kyle Hemmersbach was the club's top seller for the second year in a row. All of the members and leaders would like to extend a thank you to all who purchased the pizzas!

The club prepared a booth for the County Penny Carnival, which was held on Saturday, March 8th, at the Oregon Coliseum. 4-H Clubs from all over the county joined in the fun to the theme "Down on the Farm".
