A recent 4-H survey indicated that teachers in Ogle County are on the sharp look-out for materials that will support character education in their classrooms.
Extension is pleased to be able to provide teachers with resource kits designed for use with grades 3-5 and 6-8.
The kits are built around the Josephson Institute of Ethic's six Pillars of Character: trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship. A seventh lesson on decision making is also included. The Josephson Institute is a non-partisan, non-sectarian group.
Kits can be checked out for one month at a time. All interested classrooms in a particular school building are asked to coordinate their schedules and share the kit. Reserve kits by calling the Extension office.
When calling, please specify:
4-H Focus on Character (Grades 3-5)
Or
4-H Focus on Character (Grades 6-8)
Teachers are responsible for kit transportation to and from the Extension office.
