Flower Arranging
Students learn the proper methods for creating a professional looking flower arrangement. Artificial flowers and containers are provided for each student to complete their own arrangement.
Visual Arts
Paper-paper is used in creating artwork Pigment-using paint to create artwork Weaving-a weaving loom made of straws is used to knit a scarf Scrap Sculpturing-using recycling and other materials to make an original sculpture
Bicycle
Students learn the "Rules of the Road" for bicycles as well as hand signals and bike safety.
The Art of the Bean
Youth will learn about the different parts of a bean plant and design a piece of artwork using beans.
Birdfeeders
Youth will make birdfeeders out of pinecones, peanut butter, and birdseed. This project will be done in either fall or spring months. During the winter months, youth will make a birdfeeder out of paper maché, birdseed, and Styrofoam bowls/cups. Youth will also learn about the different birds that are in Illinois by playing a matching game.
Team Building Activities
These activities will focus around building teamwork skills, patience, cooperation and respect for others.
Operation Safe Kids
Youth will learn about safety issues in the home, at school, and in their community. Youth will be making a First Aid Kit.
Soil Erosion
Activities range from learning about soil texture and properties to methods used to prevent soil erosion and making a no-bake "Dirt Cake."
Project Wet
Through various activities students learn about the water cycle, properties of water, as well as the impact of water pollution on all living things.
Plant People
Youth will learn how plants can grow anywhere as long as the plant's needs are met.
The Buzz About Bugs
Youth learn about bug body parts and functions with hands-on interactive activities.
Biotech
Students learn about the amazing world of Biotechnology and how to extract DNA to make fruit smoothies.
Super Siblings
A program, which covers basic safety and communication, challenges when interacting with younger siblings, cousins, and others.
Cooking Magic
Children will learn the importance of hand washing before food preparation. They will also learn the basics of following a recipe, and conclude by preparing an easy, healthy snack.
Food and Fitness Fun
Students will play a game that teaches them the basics of balancing their day with food and play. They will conclude by preparing an easy healthy snack.
