Extension Council

The Monroe County Extension Council is an advisory board consisting of Monroe County residents. Members represent diverse interests in the county including agriculture, education, finance, business, and more. The purpose of the Council is to serve as an advisory body. Members cooperate with Extension staff in planning, promoting, developing, implementing, and evaluating Extension programs designed to meet the needs, interests and resources of the community.

Council Member Responsibilities

  • Assist in setting program/audience priorities
  • Provide for involvement of local people in the development of programs that help people in targeted groups achieve their objectives
  • Help with program delivery and program evaluation
  • Recruit possible resources – financial and human
  • Serve as a formal liaison between the public and Extension
  • Help determine number and type of committees needed to develop and deliver Extension education in the local Unit
