Mercer County is located south of the Quad Cities, covers 569 square miles, and has an overall population of 16,786. The geographic area is allocated to 11 cities/villages and 17 townships. It is considered part of the Quad Cities Metropolitan Statistical Area (MSA): Davenport-Moline-Rock Island, IA-IL MSA. Mercer County was organized in 1825, and was named for Hugh Mercer, a General of the Revolution.
