Plastic Pot Recycling to begin in McLean County

A pilot program for recycling plastic plant pots will begin this spring in McLean County, thanks to the cooperation of the Ecology Action Center (EAC), the Master Gardeners, ISU Facilities Services, and the Town of Normal. Initial funding for the project is being provided by McLean County Solid Waste Management.

The basic concept is to have five Saturdays where the public can turn in their pots at our site. The dates are: April 19, May 17, June 21, September 20, and October 18, from 8am to 12pm. Otherwise, there will be three garden centers where containers can be turned in anytime during business hours. The sites are: Niepagen Greenhouses, AB Hatchery, and Greenview Nurseries.
