Bills debated at the 2009 Conference

  1. The legal age for consumption of alcohol will be lowered from 21 to 18. Failed.
  2. The length of time a teen preparing to obtain a driver's license must drive shall be decreased from 50 hours to 30 hours and from 10 hours of night driving to 5 hours. Passed with Ammendments to increase hours to 60 and 15.
  3. Dirt bike/ 4 wheeler license is required for operation with the minimum age of 10 years and mandatory training course. Failed.
  4. High school graduation requires completion of 100 service hours. Passed.
  5. High school graduation requires completion of a mandatory parenting class. Failed. (tie)
  6. High school graduation required to receive or maintain a drivers license or any form of county or state financial benefits. Passed.

Bills debated at the 2008 Conference

  1. The legal driving age in Illinois shall be raised from 16 to 18.
  2. The waiting period required to purchase a gun will increase from 72 hours for a concealable weapon (i.e. a handgun) and 24 hours for a rifle, shotgun, or other long gun to 2 weeks. This applies for gun dealers and private sales.
  3. Speed limits on interstate highways shall increase to 65 to 75 mph.
  4. The slaughtering of horses should be allowed in Illinois.
  5. All schools in Illinois will follow a year round school calendar.
  6. All music on compact disks sold in IL shall have an age requirement designation.
  7. The age requirement for video games sold or rented in Illinois shall be more strictly enforced.
  8. All public schools shall require students to wear uniforms.
  9. Cell phones shall be banned from classrooms in Illinois schools.
  10. Fireworks shall be legally purchased and used in Illinois.
