Pre-4-H Show Activities

July

  • Friday, June 30 4-H fair entries due in office by 5 p.m. or postmarked by July 1
  • Tuesday, July 15 4-H Royalty prelims: Interstate Center, 7 p.m.
  • Tuesday, July 22 Royalty dinner: C.J's, 7 p.m.
  • Saturday, July 26 Superintendent Pre-Fair "Pow Wow"/Set Up Day: 9:00 a.m.

4-H Show Week Program

Tuesday, July 29

  • Noon Livestock permitted on grounds (including llamas)
  • 5-8 p.m. Project check-in for most projects; (Flowers, vegetables, foods, dairy, goats, sheep, llamas, and swine check in on Wednesday.)
  • 6-8 p.m. Horse check in with Coggin's Test and helmets
  • 8 p.m. Flag ceremony
  • 8:15 p.m. Horse exhibitor meeting

Wednesday, July 30

  • 7-8:30 a.m. Flowers, vegetables check in
  • 7-8:45 a.m. Foods check in
  • 8 a.m. Llamas must be in place and checked in
  • 8 a.m Horse English judging, and Photography
  • 9 a.m. Llama and Rabbit judging
  • 9 a.m. Judging begins for most 4-H Exhibits Division classes (photography begins at 8 a.m.)

Refer to individual project sections for specific times and locations.

  • 9:30 a.m "My Pet Rabbit" judging
  • 10:30 a.m. Welding judging
  • 12 p.m. Small Pets judging
  • 1:00 p.m. Candy, Cake Decorating, 4-H Cooking 101, Mircrowave, Pastries, Teens Entertain, Robotics judging
  • 3-8 p.m. Swine weigh-in
  • 5 p.m. Sheep, Beef, Dairy, Goats and Swine must be in place
  • 5 p.m. Flower Arranging activity judging
  • 5-6 p.m. Beef weigh-in
  • 6:30 p.m. Sheep & Goat exhibitor meeting
  • 7 p.m. Evening entertainment including introduction of 4-H Show Committee, Golden Clover Award presentation, 4-H Royalty contest, McLean Co. Family of the Year, McLean County 4-H Alumni

Thursday, July 31-Young At Heart Day

  • 8 a.m. Dairy & Horse Dressage judging
  • 9 a.m. Poultry judging, and Tractor Operators' contest
  • 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Fair Tours for day care centers
  • 12:30 Beef judging
  • 1 p.m. Horse jumping classes, Master Shepherd Interviews
  • 3 p.m Swine Premiere on foot
  • 3:30 p.m. Check in for Cloverbud Lympics; Activity begins at 4 p.m.
  • 4:00 p.m. State Fair Question & Answer Session
  • 6:00 p.m. Sheep triming/Shearing demonstration and judging
  • 7:30 p.m. Market Lamb weigh in

Friday, August 1

  • 7 a.m. Swine Premiere loadout to Bloomington Meats
  • 8 a.m. Barrow, Dairy Goat, Horse Western, Swine showmanship judging
  • 9 a.m. Poultry judging
  • 9 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Fair Tours for day care centers
  • 12 p.m. Dog judging, 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament
  • 2:30 p.m. Meat Goat judging
  • 6 p.m. Market Lamb judging
  • 7:30 - 10:30 p.m. 4-H Dance

Saturday, August 2

  • 8 a.m. Horse Western Pleasure, Breeding Sheep, Breeding Swine
  • 8:30 a.m. Public Presentations judging
  • 9 a.m. Cat & Swine Premiere judging
  • 9 a.m. Bicycle Safety rodeo: Practice-9 a.m., Rodeo-10 a.m.
  • 9-11 a.m. Style Revue practice
  • 10 a.m. Food Demonstrations check in and judging
  • 12-1 p.m. Check in Alumni Yeast Bread and Pie Baking contest Bread/Pie Auction TBA
  • 12:30 p.m. Junior Style Revue lineup
  • 1 p.m. Junior Style Revue, Rocket Launch
