Ag Awareness Programs & Kits
The Ag Awareness Resource Center contains a wide variety of kits, books, videos and hands-on materials. Teachers, civic and community organizations and 4-H leaders are welcome to usethese materials withMcLean County youth, preschool through high school, to instill an understanding of the role agricluture plays inMcLean County, Illinois and the UnitedStates.
Materials include:
Agri-Kits - hands-on lessons for classroom use on a wide varietyof agricultural topics, encompassing all curricular areas and all age groups. Students can explore pumpkins, apples, biotechnology, mathematics in agriculture, weather, the water cycle, insects and embryology.
Agri-Baskets - hands on lessons for kindergarten through 3rd grade students on the following topics:Animals, Corn, Dairy, Soybeans, Machinery, Harvest & Wheat.
Ag Mags - sixteen issues in classroom packets of 30 copies deal with a wide variety of topics, with hands-on projects, career oriented interviews, all are correlated to the Illinois Learning Standards. Topics range from Earth Day, Corn, Apples, and Soil to Biotechnology, Dairy, Beef, Horses, to name but a few.

Ag Videos - 50 titles bring agriculture and related topics to the classroom formats appropriate for all ages and all learners.
Ag Literature Kits - a collection of 30 agricultural books, both fiction and non-fiction, drawn from the world of agriculture. Traditional favorites and new titles make thisKindergarten through 6th gradelevel kit a popularresource for teachers and librarians.
All of these materials are available at no charge thanks to the generosity of the University of Illinois Extension, McLean County, the McLean County Farm Bureau and Illinois Ag In The Classroom.
