About Extension

Introduction

University of Illinois Extension has been helping the citizens of McLean County put knowledge to work for over 85 years. Thousands of McLean County residents take advantage of research-based educational programming every year to enable them to make practical decisions to improve their quality of life.

4-H is one of the most recognized programs of Extension. Over 3,100 youth participated in 4-H community clubs or 4-H school enrichment activities in McLean County in 2000-01 making it one of the largest 4-H programs in the country. But Extension in McLean County offers more than 4-H to its residents. Programming in leadership, agriculture, food and nutrition, work force preparedness and more is offered on an annual basis. As one Extension user put it, "We have programs for everyone from cradle through retirement." Inside you’ll read of just a few of the programs Extension provided during 2000-01. Take a few minutes and see what Extension has to offer for you. Then give them a call and see how you fit in the McLean County picture.
