Changes, amendments and new requirements!!! Please read!
Applies to 4-Hers enrolled and who will exhibit:Poultry-Rabbits-Beef-Dairy-Sheep-Swine-Goats-Horses-Llamas
Premise ID #
- A Premise ID number will BE REQUIRED for any 4-Her wanting to exhibit poultry, rabbits, beef, dairy, sheep, swine, goats, horses or llamas, at the McLean County Fair or State Fair, (including leased animals and My Pet Rabbit). The number MUST BE recorded on the fair entry form. The premise ID # refers to the location where the animal(s) are housed or raised. There is no charge to obtain an ID #. You may go to http://www.agr.state.il.us/premiseid/ or call 1-866-299-9256 for a paper form. You may apply for the number now to avoid backlog later in the year. Horse exhibitors
- There will be a horse exhibitor meeting at the Extension Office on Feb.13th. Details on enclosed flyer.
Beef exhibitors
- All 4-Hers wanting to show in the county or state Beef Market classes or the Premiere Beef class MUST have their animals weighed and tattooed by the beef committee on Feb. 2nd, 10am-12pm at Reel Livestock Center in Congerville. Electronic ID tags, at a cost to the owner of $3/tag, will also be used for all steers to be shown at the state fair.
Swine exhibitors
- Swine Exhibitors planning to show in the county or state Premiere Barrow class must be weighed and tattooed on March 8th or April 5th by the swine superintendents at the Interstate Center 9am-12pm.
Sheep exhibitors
- State Fair premiere or live show wethers must be weighed and tattooed on April 19th or May 10th at the Interstate Center, 9am-12pm. Animals will also be tagged with electronic ID tags at a cost to the owner of $2/tag.
State Fair
- Poultry is added this year, along with beef, dairy, sheep, swine, goats and horse exhibitors to the ethics requirement. This online animal care ethics course must be completed only ONCE in a lifetime in order to show at the State Fair. The website is http://web.extension.uiuc.edu/qaec/ and can be accessed after Feb. 1st, 2008.
- Swine exhibitors must take the Pork Quality Assurance course EACH year to show at the State Fair. A course date has not yet been set.
- Beginning with the 2008 Illinois State Fair, all junior exhibitors will need to pay entry fees for any/all animals entered. Fees are allocated as follows:
- Beef, Dairy, Horses -- $10.00 per head
- Sheep, Swine, Goats -- $2.50 per head
- Dogs -- $2.00 per dog
- Poultry, Rabbits -- $1.00 per head
