The Food Stamp Nutrition Education Program (FSNEP) offers basic nutrition education, food safety and resource management to food stamp eligible audiences. McHenry County Extension currently delivers this federally funded program to individuals and families at:

  • Local Food Pantries
  • Department of Human Services office
  • Head Start (Parent Meetings, Preschool classrooms, Homebase, and Teachers Inservice)
  • "Home of the Sparrow" Women's Homeless Shelter
  • "New Horizons" Homeless Veterans Transitional Living Home
  • After School Nutrition Programs at Lakewood Neighborhood Resource Center and Garden Quarter Resource Center
  • "Growing Together Community Garden", Harvard, Illinois
  • Even Start Programs
  • Senior Services
  • Township offices
  • P.A.D.S. of McHenry County

Monthly Newsletters Provided in English and Spanish

Monthly newsletters and fact sheets containing basic nutrition, food safety, and resource management are created by University of Illinois Extension Staff at Urbana-Champaign. Most of the printed materials that are handed out can be obtained in English and Spanish to better serve the Latino/a Community in McHenry County.
