Youth Leadership Training
Need to put the fun and spark back into your club meetings? Join Liz Woolridge, a member of the State 4-H youth Leadership Team to "Get You Motivated" so that you and your club can reach for the horizon through communication skills, team-building, goal-setting, and creating new partnerships. She will enhance your influences as an effective leader in your club. Call the Extension Office today at 815-338-4747 and say "I Want to Get Motivated" at the November 8 Leadership Workshop at 10 a.m. held at the Extension Office.
County Youth Leadership Opportunities
Youth have a large impact in the type of programming that McHenry County Extension Office provides through out the year. Here are just a few areas that youth may serve on committees to share their leadership skills and ideas:
4-H Dog Committee
This committee meets the fourth Thursday of the month at 7pm in the Extension Office Conference Room. The committee creates workshops for the year, handles dog orientations, dog training classes, fair and much more. For further information please contact Cindy Harris.
4-H Horse Committee
This committee meets the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7 pm in the Extension Office Conference Room. The committee creates the workshops for the year, horse bowl, horse hippology, special activities, Tuesday night warm up's, fair, and much more. For further information please contact Cindy Harris.
NEW Fashion Revue Committee
We are looking for youth with an interest in art, communication, writing or fashion to create a new Fashion Revue committee. You do not have to be enrolled in Clothing to participate. The responsibilities for this new committee will include planning and implementing the annual 4-H Fashion Revue, creating stage decorations, narrations, line up, music for the show and etc. The first meeting for this committee will be held on Monday, January 12 at 6:30 pm in the Extension Conference Office. Youth Needed for Clothing and Textiles
Clothing workshops will begin this winter and older youth are needed to assist teaching the younger youth the use of a machine, teaching them to sew a straight seam, pressing, andworking with them on sewing activities and sewing projects. Youth ideas for teaching workshops are encourage. Please contact Cindy Harris for further questions or suggestions.
