VALUED VOLUNTEERS

ILLINOIS 4-H RECOGNIZES OUR VALUED VOLUNTEERS

Illinois 4-H recognized adult volunteers who has completed the VALUED Volunteer Orientation program during the Clover Celebration at the Illinois State Fair.

During the 2007-08 4-H year, 150 individuals from 19 Extension units participated in the VALUED Volunteer Orientation program designed to help volunteers better understand their role in impacting the future of youth through 4-H. Each participant was asked to complete six one-hour training sessions over the course of the year on topics ranging from program planning and experiential learning to positive youth development and effective communications.

"Some times new volunteers are overwhelmed by the breadth of 4-H. The VALUED Volunteer Orientation program focuses on practical topics and resources that can be used immediately in 4-H clubs and local efforts, said Sheri Seibold, Extension Specialist for University of Illinois Extension's State 4-H Office. "This program helps leaders establish a solid foundation to provide educational opportunities that meet the needs of today's youth."

During the Clover Celebration, individuals who completed four or five of the training tropics received participation and/or certificates. We congratulate the following for accomplishing this VALUED Volunteer program:

Participation Certificates: Tim Hoeft - Huntley Harvestors

Completion Certificates: Mary Flores-Mercado - Mano a Mano and Mary Jo Losch - 4-H For Fun
