Tessa Hobbs-Curley earned a bachelor of arts in social sciences from Mount St. Clare College in Clinton, Iowa, and her master of arts in human development counseling at University of Illinois in Springfield, Illinois.
Hobbs-Curley is a member of the Youth Quality of Life Task Force, McDonough County Tobacco-Free Coalition, McDonough County Interagency, Health Network and the Walnut Grove United Methodist Church.
She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and she is certified to teach Colors Matrixx. Hobbs-Curley completed the Character Counts! training from the Joseph and Edna Josephson Institute of Ethics and the National Character Counts! Coalition, along with Pursuing Victory with Honor.
Professional organizations include: member of the National Association of Extension 4-H Agents (NAE4-HA), Illinois Extension Professionals for Youth Education (IEPYE) and the American Angus Association.
Hobbs-Curley was recognized by the IEPYE with the 2003 Communicator Award, Educational Piece Team, 2004 Communicators Award Educational Piece-Team, 2004 Communicator Award Educational Package-Team, 2006 NEAFCS Early Childhood Child Care Training Award and 3rd Place Central Region Finalist, 2007 Communicator Educational Piece- Team, 2007 Achievement in Service, 2007 Communicator Award Promotional Piece-Team, and 2007 Search for Excellence in Teen Programming-Team

Character Education
Includes training for faculty and staff, introduction to specific curricula, and follow-up consultations with the school's character education committee. The six pillars of character (trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship) are covered in these lessons.
